When I saw that Scooby-Doo! Laff-A-Lympics: Spooky Games was one of the films on the Tots100 Film Club list last month, I immediately knew I had to choose it! Grace and Faith are massive Scooby Doo fans and often rush downstairs in the morning to cram in an episode before we get up!
As the title suggests, Scooby Doo and the gang, along with many other cartoons characters from my childhood, take part in a series of events. They work in teams, some of which include Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, Fred Flintstone, Barney Rubble, Captain Caveman and many others. They travel all over the world to take part in different events, including rowing across rivers, riding on elephants, swinging on vines and catching a tiger. The girls loved that this also linked in with the sporting events in London this summer.
As always, I have asked the girls to give me their take on the film, after all, they’re the ones who have watched it fifty gazillion times! Faith liked it but thought it was a bit scary at times (well, it is a PG and she does find Scooby Doo a little scary). Grace didn’t think that this one was particularly scary though.
Grace says:
I really liked the beginning episode because it was a bit scary and it had Scooby Doo and the gang in it. Only Scooby and Shaggy were in the other episodes and I would have liked to see the rest of the gang in more of the episodes. I loved that it had different sports and that there were different teams with characters from cartoons. I hadn’t seen them before and some of them were funny! I really wanted Scooby to win more medals. I would give the DVD 4 stars out of 5.
