I haven’t done a proper meal plan for about a month now, blaming it on the fact I’ve been really busy. Of course, this is exactly the reason I should be more organised and plan my meals carefully! So I’m back on track this week with my weekly meal plan.
It seems that Autumn is finally upon us as the evenings have started to turn chilly – I’ve even had to put the heating on! So my thoughts have turned to good hearty foods and the slow cooker will shortly claim its space on the work surface. I foresee many stews, casseroles and soups over the coming months…
This week I have been having a look through a recipe book I bought in Sainsbury’s called Classic Recipe Collection, which contains lots of great dishes that are ideal for this time of year. So here is what we will be eating this week.
Monday – Meatballs
Tuesday – Chicken and asparagus risotto
Wednesday – Spaghetti bolognese (page 68 – Classic Recipe Collection)
Thursday – Bangers and mash
Friday – Chicken and ham pie (page 80 – Classic Recipe Collection)
Saturday – French onion soup
Sunday – Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings

Well done for doing this, although I have no idea how you do a sainsbury’s shop without a meal plan! We cheat and only use recipe books about once a month, rest of the time rely on the old favourites, plus also what’s being brought in from the allotment which determines things a fair bit.
Also, whilst most of it looks lively, as an allotment holder, the one that sticks out is the Chicken and asparagus risotto – it isn’t asparagus season, so this is liekly to have been flown a long way from where it is the beginning of the season

I usually rely on old favourites too, which is how I shop without a list. I shop online and add the same things every week! Asparagus is out of season but I have some I froze earlier in the year. I’m hoping it will come back to life ok but if not then I will use frozen peas! 🙂

Thanks Amy, you’re forgiven for going out of season then!!!! Hopefully it defrosted ok – ours gets eaten so fast that it never makes it to the freezer!
