It is not normal to get up at 5:45am on a Saturday morning but that is what I had to do to get ready to go to CyberMummy 2010! I was very lucky that I had my ticket bought for me by Fabulous Savings and Kat from Housewife Confidential offered me a lift, so I only had to get myself as far as her house. Being the fantastic pair that we are, we found the Ibis Hotel in Earl’s Court with no problems (ok, maybe we didn’t take the most direct route….) and arrived in good time. I think she still might be a little mad at me as I didn’t let her stop for breakfast!
As everyone began to arrive I spotted the lovely Vonnie, who I was so excited to meet and she is just as lovely as I thought she would be! During the day I also met lots of other lovely bloggers, some whose blogs I know well, some that I have now discovered for the first time. I won’t name all those who I met just in case I forget someone, but it was lovely to meet you all!
The event began with some speed networking, which was a good opportunity to get up, mingle and meet others. I got to swap business cards with several people and discovered that Emily from Babyrambles lives very near to where I used to live!
The content session was interesting and it was especially good to hear India Knight speak, shame she didn’t speak for longer though. The other people on the panel were very interesting too. I felt the stats sessions didn’t really achieve what it set out to and I think a few other bloggers may have felt the same. Natalie Lue was fabulous in the monetizing your blog session, and again, I would have like to hear more of what she has to say. If I have one criticism it is that I couldn’t go to all the sessions that I wanted to because they clashed, although the live blogging did help me catch up on what I missed. Maybe some kind of carousel might work well so you have more than one chance to catch a session?
We came home laden with goodies from the generous sponsors, so much so that my shoulders hurt the next day! I also won a Plum Baby food hamper in the huge prize draw and our team won the pub quiz hosted by the magnificent Linda, who had us all in stitches. Check out Grace’s handiwork with the face paints we won.
Thanks once again to Fabulous Savings for making it possible for me to attend and to Susanna, Sian and Jen for organising such a successful event.

I have to say that the tiger look is pretty awesome and Dale should wear that work!
Very interested in reading about this event – for no particular reason other than that I seem to have been coming across more and more mums who blog, the Geek Girl Dinners crowd, etc, etc. Very exciting to find so many connections building!

He did wear it into work on Sunday when he had to pick something up! I shall see if I can convince him to wear it on a week day! 🙂
There is a very large Mum blogging community now, don’t know if you’ve come across British Mummy Bloggers? Was a great event and one of the first of its kind in the UK. I think it was a kind of mini BlogHer but who knows how it will grow?
