Grace loves to write – she has done ever since she was very young and at 3 years old started to write little sentences. Now she’s 7, I find little pieces of writing all over the house! Lists, dear diary entries, school registers and endless imaginative stories.
So we were both very interested to hear about the Al Fresco Holidays Young Travel Writer Competition. Children are invited to write a short story of 300 words or less about their holiday, writing about where they went, what they did, why it was so great and even add some pictures. Then they can submit it to one of two age ranges – age 10 and under, and 11 and over.
It’s a great opportunity to encourage creative writing skills at home and a lovely activity to sit down and do together. As well as helping with Literacy skills, it is a perfect chance to look back through holiday snaps and relive memories. We had great fun last night looking through the photos of our holiday in Dorset last year!
The winning entry will win a holiday for the whole family to an Al Fresco holiday park of their choice for 7 days, with up to £500 in travel expenses. Al Fresco Holidays provide luxury mobile home holidays on parcs across Europe. There are loads of great activities to keep all the family entertained, including on-site water parks, children’s entertainment clubs and even spas. Yes, Spas! Count me in then!
If you have a budding young travel writer in your family who would like to enter, then you need to make sure they submit their entry by the 1st March. For more details about the competition and for the terms and conditions, check out the Al Fresco Holidays blog.
