When a friend first asked me to make a cake in the shape of a ballerina with matching cupcakes, I have to admit I was a little worried about how to do it! However, after quite a few hours of work, I was really pleased with the finished cake.
I started by drawing a design out on a sheet of paper and then used the pieces to cut out the shapes from coloured fondant. Then I cut the cake into shape, iced it, added the ballerina and piped some buttercream edging.
The cupcakes are topped with buttercream swirls and fondant ballet shoes, tutus and flowers. Perfect for a little girl who loves to dance!
