Today we held the third Eastleigh Clandestine Cake Club meet up. We are a small, but perfectly formed group, and today was great fun! After holding the first couple of meetings at home, I decided it was time to branch out and find a venue for us to try out. I had seen that Nicky from The Angelcake Company had expressed an interest in hosting a meeting in her coffee shop on the Clandestine Cake Club website, so a few emails later, it was all arranged.

We all agreed that Nicky was the perfect hostess and the venue, which was comfy and spacious, was just right for our gathering. Nicky made sure we had plenty of plates, napkins and cutlery and they certainly had an impressive coffee machine – my latte was lovely! She even joined us for a couple of slices of cake, which was so lovely! I for one, will definitely be going back there and I shall be trying some of Nicky’s delicious-looking cakes next time!

Our theme for this month was drinks and yet again, we had a fantastic spread. I’m not sure what it says about us, as 4 out of 5 of the group baked cakes with alcohol in them! But they were all absolutely delicious (and for the first time, nobody dropped theirs on the way!)

Michelle brought along a beautifully light and refreshing Mojito cake, Carrie’s pineapple juice upside down cake was still warm from the oven, Cassandra made a summery Pimms cake, Anne’s Amaretto cake had a wonderful layer of Ameretti biscuits in the centre and I made a Baileys and chocolate mousse cake.

We were all slightly worried about driving home after all those alcoholic cakes and whether we’ll have a cake-induced hangover tomorrow!

After a lovely afternoon chatty and sharing cakey stories, we headed home armed with large boxes full of leftover cake. We really must start bringing friends along so we can spread the cake out!

If you want to find out more about the Clandestine Cake Club, check out the website and our group page for Eastleigh. I will be putting the date of our next meeting up as soon as I have found a venue to host us.

Once again, a huge thank you to Nicky for being an amazing host and to all the ladies who came along today.
