I have to admit I do have mixed feelings about the white stuff. When I wake up in the morning and see that perfect white covering outside I am as excited as a small child! However, I am not a small child and I have things to do, places to go and people to see, and snow gets in my way!

I don’t like driving in it and our road always gets compacted down into an ice rink very quickly. I don’t like the idea that family have to drive around in it (especially when Dale ventured off to Oxford the other day!) However, I love how excited the children get and their little faces as they rush out to play, or watch it falling at the window.

And I love rushing in to warm our fingers and drink hot chocolate, and admire our handiwork from inside. But I don’t like how our footprints spoil the beautiful smooth snowy surface.

I love the eerie glow the snow makes at night time and how it never quite gets dark. I love watching it fall silently by the light of the street lamp, knowing I’m tucked up warm inside.

I don’t like the thought that we might get snowed in and not be able to get to my Mum’s for Christmas. We had a close shave last year and I struggled to get the car into her driveway! So please snow, if you’re listening, hold off until Christmas Eve and we’re all safely at Mum’s house, then you can snow as much as you want and it will be magical.
