There’s nothing I love better on a cold evening than snuggling down with a cookery book, flicking through and planning what I’m going to cook and bake. This time of year is the best because Christmas provides the perfect opportunity to bake and try out some new recipes. So I was delighted to be asked if I’d like to review a copy of the Bake-a-boo Bakery Cookbook.

This book appealed to me instantly, mainly because of the pretty pink cover and the photo of the delicious looking cupcakes! I had also heard that the book was packed full with wonderful recipes, not only of the ‘regular’ kind but also lots suitable for those with allergies. Sometimes I’ve found it tricky to get the quantities right when baking gluten and dairy free treats and I’m never really sure what to replace the flour and butter with. This book solves all those problems and makes sure that those with allergies don’t miss out on the tasty treats.

The book is divided into sections and covers a whole host of cakes, cupcakes, party ideas, cookies and cakes for special occasions. The recipes are clear and easy to follow and the author, Zoe Berkeley, has even put together handy menus for tea parties, such as a Hen Party Menu, Wedding Tea menu and Baby Shower menu, which provide ideas of what to serve and the page numbers for each recipe.

I can’t wait to dig in and start trying some recipes and some of the the first on my list will be the red velvet sparkler cake, florentines, gluten-free boo cakes and the queen of hearts biscuits. A well thought-out book, beautifully presented and the perfect book for a baking enthusiast.

This is a review post: I was sent a free copy of the book to review.
