I adore cookbooks and have quite a few on my shelves (which were specially built to accommodate all my books!) So I was very excited when Little Dish asked if I’d like to review their Little Dish Favourites Cookbook and fresh fruit and vegetable pouches.

Little Dish make all their products from 100% natural ingredients with no added salt or sugar and the recipes in the cookbook follow suit. All the recipes have been created in partnership with a nutritionist and have been tested by tiny tots to make sure they reach their exacting standards.

My girls are a little old for the vegetable pouches but they would be great for younger children who are beginning to try out new tastes. However, they loved the fruit pouches, especially on some plain yoghurt for a tasty pudding. Faith enjoys them as a healthy snack between meals too.

We loved the cookbook, which has a really clear and easy to follow layout, and lots of helpful sections including a recipe planner and a guide to which recipes work well together to make a meal. We jumped in straight away and decided to make the Shepherd’s Pie.

The recipe was easy to follow and was so simple that Grace joined in and helped me with the preparation. She peeled the potatoes, chopped carrots and onions, measured out the peas and crushed the garlic. The shepherd’s pie turned out great and the children especially gave it a big thumbs up. Plates were cleaned and they even had second helpings! We shall definitely be using this recipe again, especially as the whole dish was prepared using no added salt or sugar.

We’re looking forward to trying out more recipes from this book and have already decided that creamy chicken curry, green pie, chocolate brownies and simple lamb hotpot will be high up on our list.

This is a review post – I was sent a free copy of the book and some fresh fruit and vegetable pouches.
